This month we are sponsoring the Reptile Life Rescue in San Diego, California and it's owner, Johnny. A portion of every subscription cost for January will go directly to this rescue and to supporting these animals in need.
As a kid, Johnny always had a passion for animals and wildlife, and was seven years old when he took in his first rescue pet. His rescue currently has twelve animals: 2 Bearded Dragons (Dozer & Danaris), 2 Iguanas (Thing1 & Thing2), a Desert Iguana (Optimus), 2 Giant Green Ameivas, a Savannah Monitor (Lilly), a Sumatran Water Monitor (Sam), a Timor Monitor (Romeo), a Tegu (Malachi), and a Chinese Water Dragon (Beast). Outside of rescuing, he enjoys hiking and fishing and anything that takes him outdoors.
"One of the things I love the most about rescuing is creating a bond with something that was once hurt or tormented. Animals love and forgive even through a struggle that caused pain." - Johnny
"Rescuing is one of the most difficult things I've ever done. Not all reptiles can be saved. I've had some come to me with problems that could not be repaired which ultimately ended in death. Its not always a pretty sight. You instantly gain love for these rescues and they fight so hard to survive that it ends up taking their life. It mentally wares you down." - Johnny
Johnny's goal for Reptile Life Rescue is to one day turn it into a staffed facility where he can house more animals and offer education for owners and potential reptile owners to promote safety and proper husbandry so that their pets can life long and happy lives.

"Being a responsible reptile owner is not for everyone. Please educate yourself before getting a reptile or any animal in general. Its a commitment of taking care of a life. Struggles and trials are always normal but what you do to surpass those come from educating yourself." - Johnny
